A Self-Love Song (Stories From The Vault)
The following Story From The Vault was written in July of 2024.
You remind me of a love song
I heard in two zero one two.
You made my heart skip a beat
When you entered the room .
You kissed me in the twenty teens
As we danced under the moon.
Yet I have to say my life
Is the best it’s been without you.
I don’t think I’m stronger
Just because of love lost.
Remembering how to love myself
Is a lesson I have long sought.
My love isn’t a battle
It isn’t a war to be won.
My love does not burn
It will not outlast the sun.
My love is constant & chaos.
It lies beneath my skin.
It reassures me I’m not alone.
It chips away at hatred within.
No one loves me more than me.
And no one harbors such dislike.
I am the only one who can see myself
Though I cannot do so with my own eyes.
I am the burden of my arms.
I am mineself my own joy.
One day I will reap what I sow.
Delight in what you could never destroy.
