An Update
I’ve been doing a great deal of introspection lately, and I realized that I am not as interested in the things that I used to be anymore. I no longer have the same goals that I used to, I no longer believe the same things, and I no longer enjoy the same activities. There is still some overlap, but not as much as I might have expected. And the thing is, that is okay! Change, growth, becoming people different from who we once were… that is a natural process. I turned 25 a couple weeks ago, and Talia at 25 is radically different from Talia at 23, at 21, at 17, at 14, at 12, and at so many other ages. Talia today is different from Talia yesterday.
Some of the changes and decisions that I make affect others in addition to myself. Keen observers of this website will notice that there have been more than a few changes. One of them includes a lack of posts in February, and a lack of emphasis on my book reviews. That is because… I won’t be writing them anymore. This was a hard decision and an easy one. I do not particularly enjoy writing book reviews, and I was finding that writing book reviews was severely decreasing my enjoyment of the book. That said I WILL be finishing the Percy Jackson Project… eventually. I promise. I would say I was considering making it into a podcast, except I am already working on a different project — Into the Archives.
Into the Archives
Into the Archives is a brand-new podcast I am producing centered around fanfiction. Each month I will feature a different guest and talk to them about their experiences with fandom and fanfiction before diving into discussing a recent fanfic that I have read, with the aim of getting them to read it. Word-for-Sense and Other Stories
This website has mutated so much over the years, and I have changed themes and hosts and URLs and altered the design of this space so much that I sometimes wonder at the difference. Even as I write this I am unsure of what changes might come in the future. And yet, the most important piece — the content — has stayed the same. Sure the format and the about page has changed. I’ve removed a few posts, added others. But at its core, this site is what it has always been, an expression of my creative energy.
To that end, I’d like to experiment going forward with seeing where exactly I can take that creative energy. I’ve written 164,026 words for this blog, on a variety of topics, and I cannot wait to experiment with more as I see what comes next for me in this new chapter. I am not currently sure what the exact topics I will be exploring are, but I know that each one of them will stick to one or all of my core values — creativity, intuition, knowledge, equity, community, and joy. Thank you for taking this journey with me.
